Strengths: this is a solid binding for starter snowboarders and will definitely help you progress your skill all around. They are cheap and very good for the amount of money spent on. They will help you realize what you like more in a binding, learn to tweak it and how you ride compared to the binding. I have the 2006 models and snowboarding 3-4 times a week and just recently broke them. Great binding.
Weaknesses: Freestyles are cheap because money does buy better quality. The materials aren`t nearly as good as the more expensive, better technologically advanced bindings such as the Cartels. However this is why the binding is so worth the money, they`re great to learn and progress on and if you ever break them, Burton will replace them.

And the hits don’t stop. For hits that don’t stop. The Burton Freestyle is all about constant progression, at all costs. It’s the first on the lift and the last to leave. It knows the feeling of finally stomping the trick you’ve played in your head over and over again, and it understands it’s worth the bruises. If you... More»

Strengths: This binding is great for first-timers. It`s EXTREMELY durable, super flexy and not really too complicated. I liked it until I started getting more advanced and then I upgraded to the Ride SPi DFC`s. The freestyles are definitely forgiving and they can take a beating. I went riding 3x a week last season and I never had a problem with the ratchets. Other people pay twice as much (or more) for other bindings that use crappy materials and end up breaking 3-4 weeks into the season. The freestsyles work for just about any style of boot and they aren`t as responsive as other bindings because they flex so much, but I think that makes it easier for people who are just beginning the sport. All around, not too bad, just try to find a discounted pair as they are not worth paying full price IMO.
Weaknesses: The freestyles have too much flex for more advanced riders, not enough padding on the straps or the bases and when paired with Burton Moto boots they just never seemed to fit properly, no matter how many adjustments I made IMO. Regardless, these are a great start for a beginner who only rides few times a month!
