Among skiing legion, Burke has long been known for its expert terrain. Its glades are legendary, pitches that knot the stomach and meandering trails through the forest reminiscent of the golden era of skiing.
Home to the Burke Mountain Ski Academy, the oldest and most prestigious ski academy in the country, Burke Mountain offers an authentic old New England-style atmosphere for those seeking an unpretentious, family-friendly alpine experience.
Burke's low-key scene belies the magnitude of its skiing product. With a 2,000 vertical foot drop, 250 inches of average annual snowfall, superior glades and contour-following trails rarely seen any longer, Burke delivers a classic Vermont alpine experience.
Families are drawn to Burke because of its low-key, friendly atmosphere. Skiers and riders love its 5-acre terrain park, The Gap. New in 2004-05 are a junior terrain park and a novice level glade on the lower mountain.
Burke's Coaching Center has experienced, courteous professionals and the coaches in the Children's Center understand how to nurture in young people a life-long love of the sport of skiing.
